2825.31

John Deere 2825.31 – FCC: Reverse Drive Lever, Fault

Issue description

The control software has registered incorrect values when the reverse drive lever is in the neutral or reverse position, causing the transmission system to be disabled to prevent unintended movement.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110M
  • 6120M
  • 6130M
  • 6145M
  • 6155M
  • 6175M
  • 6195M
  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R
  • 6175R
  • 6195R
  • 6215R
  • 6090MC
  • 6090RC
  • 6100MC
  • 6100RC
  • 6110MC

  • 9470RT
  • 9520RT
  • 9570RT

Check the cause

  1. Attempt a vehicle recovery by setting the reverse drive lever to Neutral or Park and cycling the key switch to see if the code clears temporarily.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connections at the left-hand reverser for physical damage, loose pins, or corrosion that could cause signal interference.

  3. Use Service ADVISOR to monitor live data from the reverse drive lever position sensors, checking for simultaneous positions or signal dropouts.

  4. Perform a Movement Inhibitor / Neutral Start Circuit Check: move range-shift to neutral, reverse lever to forward/reverse, start engine, wait 6-7 seconds, check 'N' display, depress clutch, engage range, and release clutch (tractor must not move).

Repair steps

  1. Recalibrate the Lever

Before replacing any parts, use the diagnostic software to recalibrate the reverse drive lever. This ensures the control software accurately detects the physical position of the lever.

  2. Update Software

Verify that the FCC control software is up-to-date. Flash the latest software version to avoid bugs that could cause the module to misinterpret sensor data.

  3. Replace the Reverser Assembly

If recalibration fails or the internal position sensors are physically defective, replace the entire Left-Hand Reverser Multi-Function Control Unit.

  4. Post-Repair Test

After installing the new lever, perform the calibration procedure again and repeat the Movement Inhibitor check to ensure the transmission engages and disengages safely.
