Check the cause
Attempt vehicle recovery by setting the reverser lever to 'Neutral' or 'Park' and cycling the tractor's power to clear momentary glitches.
Physically inspect the lever to ensure it is not being forced into multiple positions and no debris is jamming its travel path.
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the Left-Hand Reverser to the FCC module for chafed wires, loose pins, or moisture inside the connector.
Monitor live switch states of the Forward/Reverse lever using John Deere Service ADVISOR; conflicting states indicate failed internal micro-switches.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety while working on electrical components.
Access the Reverser Lever
Remove the plastic steering column shrouds or dash panels surrounding the base of the Left-Hand Reverser lever.
Disconnect Harness
Unplug the electrical connector from the reverser lever assembly.
Remove the Faulty Lever
Remove the mounting bolts/screws holding the reverser lever assembly to the steering column bracket and pull the unit free.
Install the New Lever
Mount the replacement Left-Hand Reverser assembly and secure it with the original mounting hardware.
Reconnect and Reassemble
Plug in the electrical connector, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reinstall the steering column shrouds.
Test and Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and cycle the lever through Park, Neutral, Forward, and Reverse. Verify that the FCC 002826.31 code is no longer active and that the transmission engages properly.
