John Deere 2865.02 – CLC: Wiper System, Rear Wiper Switch Circuit Fault

The Cab Load Center (CLC) detects an invalid command state from the switch. This occurs if the CLC detects that the rear wiper switch is commanding a connection when it is physically deactivated, or commanding a disconnection when it is activated, for a duration of more than 0.5 seconds. This usually points to a mechanical failure inside the switch logic, a short/open in the wiring harness, or a stuck switch.

   Cycle the rear wiper switch ON and OFF several times to see if the fault clears

   Turn off the engine and restart the tractor to reset potential temporary CAN bus communication glitches

   Press the select switch on the CommandCenter to acknowledge and clear the display; if the code immediately returns, it is an active hard fault

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the rear wiper switch on the console/dash for pinched wires, loose connectors, or corrosion

   Access the Switch

   Locate the rear wiper switch on the cab console or dashboard. Carefully pry off the bezel or remove the retaining hardware to access the back of the switch panel.

   Disconnect the Harness

   Unplug the wiring harness connector (often a 7-prong connector) from the back of the rear wiper switch.

   Inspect Terminals

   Look for pushed-back pins, melted plastic, or green corrosion on both the switch terminals and the harness connector.

   Test Switch Continuity

   Using a multimeter, test the switch logic. There should be no continuity when the switch is in the OFF position. When switched to ON or WASH, continuity should be present across the designated output pins.

   Replace the Switch

   If the switch fails the continuity test or feels mechanically 'mushy' or stuck, replace it with a new OEM switch.

   Reassemble and Test

   Plug the harness into the new switch, snap it back into the console, turn the key to the ON position, and verify the rear wiper operates correctly without triggering the CLC 002865.02 code.
