John Deere 2865.02 – FCC / CLC / RLC: Rear Wiper Switch Circuit Fault

The control software generates this code when it receives multiple implausible input signals from the wiper switch simultaneously, or if the switch is detected as being activated while the system is turned off for more than 0.5 seconds. This typically indicates a defective wiper switch, a stuck button/lever, or a short circuit in the wiring.

   Cycle the rear wiper switch ON and OFF, then restart the tractor engine to see if the active DTC reappears, as resetting communication messages can sometimes clear the code.

   Inspect the physical rear wiper switch for signs of mechanical malfunction, sticking, or damage.

   Examine the wiring harness and circuit related to the wiper system for short circuits, pinched wires, or loose connections behind the control console.

   Verify that the fuses and relays associated with the cab load center and wiper system are functioning correctly.

   If available, use a John Deere diagnostic tool (Service ADVISOR) to test the control software for proper interpretation of the switch signals.

   Power Down

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery if you will be probing live wires.

   Access the Switch

   Remove the switch cover or upper trim panel on the right-side control console (or dash panel, depending on the model) to access the rear wiper switch.

   Disconnect Harness

   Locate the wiper switch wiring connector (often containing white, orange, and gray wire leads) and disconnect it from the switch.

   Test the Switch

   Use a multimeter to test the switch for continuity. If the switch is internally shorted (sending multiple signals simultaneously) or fails to open/close properly, it must be replaced.

   Replace the Switch

   Remove the defective switch from the console panel. Snap or screw the new OEM replacement switch into the control console.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the wiring harness connector to the new switch. Reinstall the right-side control console trim panel.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and clear any stored codes from the CommandCenter display. Test the rear wiper to ensure proper operation and verify that code 002865.02 does not return.
