John Deere 2872.02 – FCC, CLC, or CAB: Main Light Switch Circuit Problem / Road Light Switch Configuration Fault

The control module has detected an invalid status, electrical conflict, or circuit failure originating from the main road light switch on the dash.

   Turn the main light switch ON and OFF several times to see if the code clears.

   Place the tractor in park, shut off the engine, and restart it to reset communication messages.

   Press the 'Select' switch on the CommandCenter display to see if the alert can be acknowledged and cleared.

   Disconnect and reconnect the wiring harness at the back of the light switch to rule out a loose connection.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent short circuits while working on the dash module.

   Access the Switch

   Remove the necessary dash or side console trim panels to access the rear of the main road light switch.

   Inspect the Circuit

   Unplug the wiring harness from the switch. Inspect the connector for melted plastic, pushed-out pins, or corrosion. If the harness is damaged, it must be repaired or spliced.

   Replace the Switch

   If the wiring is intact, the internal contacts or configuration of the switch have failed. Pop the faulty switch out of the dash module and install the replacement switch.

   Reassemble and Test

   Reconnect the wiring harness, reinstall the dash panels, and reconnect the battery.

   Clear Codes

   Turn the key ON, cycle the new switch ON and OFF, and verify that the 002872.02 code moves from 'Active' to 'Stored' (or clears entirely from the CommandCenter).
