3032.04

John Deere 3032.04 – OIC or XMB: Sensor Unit for Right Brake Pedal, Voltage Too Low / Right Brake Pedal Position Sensor Circuit Fault

Issue description

The voltage at the signal input of the right brake pedal potentiometer has dropped below 0.25 volts. This abnormally low voltage suggests a problem with the signal lead (such as a short to ground or open circuit), a loss of the potentiometer's supply voltage, or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the right brake pedal sensor for pinched wires, chafing, or loose connector pins that could cause a voltage drop or short to ground.

  2. Ensure that the potentiometer is receiving the correct 5V reference supply voltage from the cab controller.

  3. Use a multimeter to back-probe and measure the voltage output of the right brake pedal sensor (must smoothly transition as the pedal is depressed and released, and never drop below 0.25V).

  4. Verify that the right brake pedal is functioning correctly, is not stuck or mechanically hindered, and lubricate the pedal pivot if necessary.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Locate the Sensor

Locate the right brake pedal position sensor, which is mounted directly to the brake pedal linkage/valve assembly under the cab console.

  3. Remove the Sensor

Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the sensor. Remove the mounting screws/bolts securing the sensor to the pedal assembly.

  4. Install the New Sensor

Mount the replacement sensor in the exact orientation as the old one and secure the hardware. Reconnect the electrical harness.

  5. Calibrate the Sensor

Reconnect the battery and power on the machine. You will likely need John Deere Service ADVISOR to calibrate the new sensor's sweep.

  6. Clear Codes

Clear the 003032.04 code from the OIC/XMB module and test the brake pedals to ensure the code does not return.
