John Deere 3033.02 – OIC (Operator Interface Control): Position of Left Brake Pedal, Out of Valid Range.

The left brake pedal position sensor (potentiometer) is providing invalid voltage signals to the controller. Specifically, the system is detecting over 2 volts when the brake pedal switch is closed, or less than 1.1 volts when the brake pedal switch is open. The control software may function in a limited capacity or not at all, which can affect transmission downshifting, clutch neutralization, and overall braking system performance.

   Inspect the left brake pedal sensor unit and its wiring harness for any signs of physical damage, loose connector pins, or corrosion.

   Use a multimeter to measure the voltage output of the left brake pedal sensor. Ensure that the output falls within the valid range (typically 1.1 to 2.0 volts depending on pedal position).

   Check the brake pedal switch for proper operation to ensure it opens and closes correctly. Ensure there is no mechanical binding or debris preventing the pedal from returning to its resting position.

   Ensure that the OIC control software is updated to the latest version, as firmware updates sometimes include improvements in handling brake pedal sensor signals.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine and disconnect battery power to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the left brake pedal position sensor (potentiometer), which is mounted in the cab directly on the left brake pedal assembly.

   Remove the Faulty Sensor

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor. Remove the retaining hardware and slide the sensor off the pedal linkage.

   Install the New Sensor

   Mount the replacement sensor onto the pedal assembly and secure it with the retaining hardware. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Calibrate the Sensor

   You must calibrate the new sensor. Failure to do so will trigger a secondary fault code (OIC 003033.13 – Left Brake Pedal Position Sensor Not Calibrated). Calibration is typically performed through the tractor's display monitor or via John Deere Service Advisor by following the on-screen prompts to set the pedal's deadband and travel limits.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Clear the 003033.02 fault code from the OIC module and test drive the machine to ensure the transmission neutralizes properly when the left brake is applied.
