John Deere 3033.08 – OIC (Operator Interface Control): Mismatch between Left and Right Brake Pedals, Time-out
Issue description
The control system detects that the position signals from the left and right brake pedal potentiometers do not match each other for a duration that exceeds the programmed time-out limit. This usually indicates a failing sensor, a wiring issue, or a mechanical obstruction preventing the pedals from traveling together.

Check the cause
Check the cab floor for debris, dirt, or floor mats that might be physically obstructing either the left or right brake pedal from returning to its fully released resting position.
Ensure the mechanical linkage locking the pedals together is not worn, bent, or binding.
Check the wiring harness, signal leads, and connectors going to both brake pedal potentiometers for signs of corrosion, loose pins, or physical damage.
Verify the sensors are receiving their stable 5V reference supply and have a solid ground, as a weak or intermittent power supply can cause the mismatch.
Using a multimeter, measure the signal voltage of both sensors while sweeping the pedals. A healthy sensor typically outputs a smooth voltage curve (often between 0.7V and 4.25V). If the left sensor consistently reads below 0.25V, it is faulty or lacking power.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the engine, and remove the key.
Access the Sensors
Locate the brake pedal position sensors attached to the base of the brake pedal assembly inside the cab.
Remove the Faulty Sensor
Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the suspect brake pedal potentiometer. Remove the mounting screws/hardware securing the sensor to the pedal pivot.
Install the New Sensor
Mount the replacement sensor (RE596480) in the exact orientation as the old one. Secure the mounting hardware and plug the electrical connector back in.
Perform a Brake Pedal Calibration
Access the CommandCenter display and navigate to the Service/Calibrations menu (Access Level 1 may be required). Select 'Service Brake Pedal Calibration' and follow the on-screen prompts to fully depress and fully release the brake pedals to store the new minimum and maximum voltage values in the OIC.
Clear Codes and Test
Clear the OIC 003033.08 fault code. Test drive the tractor to ensure the brakes operate smoothly and the code does not return.
