3033.13

John Deere 3033.13 – OIC, XMB, TMB: Left Brake Pedal Position Sensor Not Calibrated

Issue description

The control module has lost the stored minimum and maximum voltage values (endpoints) for the left brake pedal's travel, or the sensor's current readings fall outside the previously calibrated window. This is often caused by mechanical tolerance stack-up in the pedal mechanism, a software reset, or a sensor that has drifted out of range, rather than an outright sensor failure.

Check the cause

  1. Check Mechanical Stops: Ensure there is no debris behind the left brake pedal preventing it from reaching its full downward or upward mechanical stops.

  2. Check Sensor Voltage: Access the diagnostic monitor to view the live voltage of the left brake pedal position sensor. Verify that the voltage changes smoothly as the pedal is depressed. (Released/decel position should read between 3.79V and 3.99V; if outside this range, the sensor bracket may need physical adjustment).

  3. Attempt Calibration: Always attempt a software calibration of the pedal before ordering parts.

Repair steps

  1. Enter diagnostic mode

Enter the tractor's diagnostic/calibration mode via the CommandCenter display (specific submodes vary by model, e.g., entering submode c11 or c07 for brake pedal calibration).

  2. Engage pedal

Fully depress the left brake pedal to the floor.

  3. Store engaged value

While holding the pedal down, press and hold the display mode switch (or on-screen button) in the 'Store/Clear' or 'Increment' position to save the fully engaged value. The system indicator will flash to confirm the value is accepted.

  4. Release pedal

Completely release the brake pedal so no pressure is applied.

  5. Store released value

Store the released value using the same method.

  6. Verify calibration

The system will prompt a verification check. Press the pedal and release it to ensure the controller recognizes the full travel range without throwing an error.

  7. Restart and test

Restart the tractor. If the code clears, the repair is complete. If the calibration fails or the code immediately returns, replace the sensor.
