3033.14

John Deere 3033.14 – OIC: Brakes not depressed since tractor startup OR Left Brake Pedal Sensor Adjustment Fault

Issue description

The system has not detected the left brake pedal being activated since the tractor was started, or the sensor's voltage output is out of the valid calibrated range (typically between 1.1V and 2.0V).

Check the cause

  1. Operational Check: Simply depress the brake pedal, as this code is often just a startup prompt and pressing the pedal may clear the code immediately.

  2. Power Cycle: If the code remains, cycle the key switch (turn the tractor off, wait a few moments, and restart the engine).

  3. Visual Inspection: Inspect the left brake pedal sensor unit and its wiring harness for any signs of physical damage, loose connections, or corrosion.

  4. Voltage Test: Use a multimeter to measure the voltage output of the brake pedal sensor. Ensure the output falls within the valid range (typically 1.1 to 2 volts).

Repair steps

  1. Clear the Code

Start the tractor and fully depress the left brake pedal. If the code clears on the CommandCenter display, no repair is necessary.

  2. Calibrate the Sensor

If the code persists and indicates an adjustment fault, perform a brake pedal calibration. Press and hold the display mode switch in the CLEAR/STORE position while the pedal is depressed to store the new sensor value.

  3. Check Wiring

Disconnect the sensor harness and check for continuity and proper ground. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and reconnect.

  4. Replace the Sensor

If the sensor fails the multimeter voltage test or will not accept calibration, it must be replaced. Remove the retaining hardware on the pedal linkage, unplug the sensor harness, install the new sensor, and repeat the calibration procedure.

  5. Update Software

Ensure the OIC control software is updated to the latest version, as firmware updates often include improvements in handling brake pedal sensor signals.
