John Deere 3251.07 – ECU: DPF Differential Pressure Sensor Fault
Issue description
Triggered when the DPF differential pressure sensor signal voltage corresponds to a pressure reading that is higher than what is physically possible at 'ignition on, engine off'.

Check the cause
Verify Live Data: Connect John Deere Service Advisor (or equivalent diagnostic software). Check the DPF differential pressure reading at key-on, engine-off. It should read approximately 0 kPa. A high reading confirms the sensor or circuit is at fault.
Inspect Sensor Tubes: Remove the pressure lines/tubes connecting the sensor to the DPF. Check for soot clogging, condensation buildup, or cracked lines.
Inspect Wiring and Connectors: Check the sensor plug and wiring harness for corrosion, loose connections, or chafing that could cause high resistance or a short.
Test Sensor Output: Measure the output voltage of the sensor with a multimeter to see if the readings are stuck or inconsistent with the actual pressure.
Repair steps
Clear Blockages
If any soot or condensation was found in the sensor tubes during diagnosis, clean them out thoroughly or replace the tubes.
Replace the Sensor
Disconnect the wiring harness and remove the failed DPF Differential Pressure Sensor. Install the new OEM sensor and reconnect the harness.
Reset Parameters
Connect your diagnostic tool (Service Advisor) and clear the active/stored fault codes.
Perform Service Regeneration
You must perform a forced DPF Service Regeneration (and potentially a DPF Service Recovery if soot loads are calculated artificially high due to the bad sensor). This resets the soot load parameters and allows the ECU to learn the new sensor's baseline.
Verify Repair
Monitor the DPF differential pressure during the regeneration. Ensure the pressure drops appropriately and the code does not return once the cycle is complete.
