   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the air/exhaust throttle actuator for chafing, broken wires, loose connectors, or corrosion that could cause a short circuit to ground.

   Disconnect the actuator and use a multimeter to measure the resistance levels of the circuit and the actuator pins. Low resistance confirms a short.

   Use John Deere Service Advisor to run a Harness Diagnostic Mode test. This will attempt to run the engine's actuators with the engine off to isolate whether the fault is in the wiring harness or the component itself.

   Remove the air throttle from the intake (keeping the actuator connected) and check for heavy soot buildup or a snapped butterfly valve shaft, which can cause the actuator motor to overwork and short out internally.

   Address Wiring Issues

   If the multimeter test reveals a short in the harness, repair or replace the damaged wiring/connector.

   Replace the Actuator

   If the wiring is intact but the actuator itself is internally shorted or mechanically failed, drain the coolant (if it is a coolant-cooled actuator) and remove the faulty air/exhaust throttle actuator.
