John Deere 3511.06 – OIC (Operator Interface Control): Sensor Supply 3 Current High

The 5-volt reference circuit #3, which powers a specific group of sensors, is drawing excessive electrical current. This condition is almost always caused by a short to ground in the wiring harness, a shorted sensor on that specific 5V circuit, or an internal fault within the control module itself.

   Perform a Sensor Isolation Test: Disconnect sensors powered by the OIC 5V Supply #3 circuit (such as the accelerator pedal sensor or hand throttle) one at a time. If the 003511.06 code goes inactive or changes to a 'Voltage Low/Open' code, the disconnected sensor is internally shorted.

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting the OIC to the sensors. Look for chafing, pinched wires, or bare copper rubbing against the machine's chassis indicating a short to ground.

   Perform a Module Output Test: Disconnect the harness directly at the OIC module and use a multimeter to check the 5V output pins. If the module still registers an internal high-current fault with nothing connected to it, the OIC module has an internal failure.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Repair Wiring

   If a short to ground was found in the harness, repair the damaged wire using OEM-approved splice connectors and heat shrink, or replace the affected harness section.

   Replace Sensor

   If a sensor was found to be internally shorted during the isolation test, unbolt the faulty sensor, plug in the new OEM sensor, and secure it.

   Replace OIC Module

   If the module itself is internally shorted, locate the Cab Module (usually behind the interior cab trim or armrest, depending on the series). Unplug the multi-pin connectors, unbolt the module, and install the replacement.

   Software Reset/Update

   Reconnect the battery. If the OIC module was replaced, it will require programming/calibration via John Deere Service ADVISOR to match the tractor's specific configuration. Clear the stored 003511.06 code.
