John Deere 3695.02 – ICC (Instrument Cluster Control): Regeneration Switch Malfunction

The control module is receiving an unstable, out-of-range, or illogical voltage signal from the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Regeneration Switch located on the dashboard.

   Inspect the physical condition of the DPF Regeneration Switch on the dash. Check if the rocker switch feels loose, sticks, or fails to spring back to the center position.

   Access the back of the switch. Inspect the wiring harness and the connector for loose wires, backed-out pins, moisture intrusion, or corrosion.

   Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test the internal contacts. Verify that resistance changes appropriately when toggling the switch between the Auto, Inhibit, and Force Regen positions.

   Check the continuity of the wiring harness between the switch connector and the ICC module to rule out a chafed or broken wire.

   Connect John Deere Service ADVISOR (or a compatible diagnostic tool) and monitor the live data for the DPF switch state. Toggle the switch to see if the ICC registers the change. If the tool shows erratic switching without physical input, the switch is internally shorted or faulty.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Switch

   Remove the necessary dashboard trim panels or the side console cover (depending on the specific tractor model) to gain access to the rear of the Instrument Cluster Control panel.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical pigtail connector from the back of the DPF Regeneration Switch.

   Remove the Faulty Switch

   Depress the plastic retaining tabs on the top and bottom (or sides) of the switch body and push it outward through the front of the dash panel.

   Install the New Part

   Insert the replacement DPF Regeneration Switch into the dash cutout from the front until the retaining tabs click securely into place.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the switch, ensuring the locking tab engages.

   Reassembly

   Reinstall all dashboard trim panels and reconnect the negative battery cable.

   Clear Codes & Test

   Turn the ignition ON. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 003695.02 fault code. Start the engine and verify the DPF status screen recognizes the switch inputs without throwing a new code.
