John Deere 412.15 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): EGR Cooled Gas Temperature Signal is High

   Inspect the radiator and EGR cooler for external debris, dirt, or contamination that could be restricting airflow or coolant flow

   Check coolant levels to ensure the engine coolant is at the proper level

   Inspect EGR components for partial blockages, heavy soot buildup, or mechanical binding within the EGR valve and EGR cooler

   Monitor live data using a diagnostic tool to verify if the EGR temperature sensor is reading accurately or if it is skewed

   Reduce engine load

   Immediately reduce engine speed and load to prevent further temperature escalation and engine derate.

   Clean cooling system

   Thoroughly clean out any debris from the cooling system, including radiators and coolers.

   Clean the EGR valve(s)

   Remove and clean out the EGR valve(s) to remove soot and carbon buildup.

   Calibrate EGR valves

   Perform a calibration reset on the EGR valves using John Deere diagnostic software (Service ADVISOR).

   Test operation

   Cycle the key switch off and on. Clear the diagnostic trouble codes and perform a road/field test under load to see if the code returns.

   Replace faulty components

   If cleaning and calibration do not resolve the issue, replace the affected component. Replace the EGR cooler if plugged internally, the EGR valve if failing mechanically, or the EGR temperature sensor if faulty.
