Issue description

Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) value measured at the outlet of the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system is too high to start a regeneration cycle, causing the engine control system to restrict engine power (derate) to limit emissions.

Check the cause

Repair steps

  1. Address Fluid/Filter Issues

    If the DEF is contaminated or degraded, drain the DEF tank completely, flush it, and refill it with fresh OEM-spec Diesel Exhaust Fluid. Replace the DEF inline filter and dosing unit filter.

  2. Update ECU Software

    Connect a diagnostic tool (such as John Deere Service ADVISOR) and flash the Engine ECU to the latest software calibration to rule out false triggers.

  3. Perform SCR System Verification Check

    Use a diagnostic tool (like Service ADVISOR or Jaltest) to initiate an 'SCR System Verification Check' to test the SCR catalytic converter's efficiency under controlled temperature conditions. If the check completes successfully, the 004364.17 error will become inactive, and engine power will be restored.

  4. Replace SCR Catalyst

    If the verification check fails and all other components (DEF quality, doser, NOx sensors) are verified to be working perfectly, the SCR Catalytic Converter itself has failed and must be replaced.
