Issue description
An overcurrent condition in the 12V sensor supply 2 circuit of the Armrest Interface Control Unit. The high current draw is typically caused by a short to ground, which can result from damaged wire insulation, exposed wiring, or faulty electrical connections, placing the system in a Function Degraded state.

Check the cause
Cycle power: Turn off the tractor, cycle the key switch, and restart to see if the code clears or returns as an active fault.
Visual inspection: Inspect the wiring harness routed to the Armrest Interface Control Unit (AIC), specifically focusing on the 12V sensor supply 2 circuit. Look for chafed wires, damaged insulation, or pinched harnesses that could cause a short to ground.
Connector check: Disconnect the AIC connectors and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent terminals.
Multimeter testing: Use a multimeter to test the 12V sensor supply 2 circuit for continuity to ground.
Sensor isolation: Disconnect the sensors powered by the Supply 2 circuit one by one. If the short to ground disappears (and the current drops) when a specific sensor is unplugged, that sensor is internally shorted and is the root cause.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the negative battery terminal before performing electrical repairs to prevent further module damage.
Repair Wiring
If a short to ground was found in the harness during diagnostics, splice and repair the damaged wire using OEM-approved heat-shrink connectors, or replace the affected harness section.
Replace Faulty Sensor
If a specific sensor on the 12V Supply 2 circuit was found to be internally shorted, remove and replace the sensor.
Replace the AIC
If the wiring and sensors test perfectly fine, but the AIC continues to output high current/short internally, the Armrest Interface Control Unit itself has failed. Remove the armrest console covers, disconnect the multi-pin connectors from the AIC, unbolt and remove the old AIC module, and install the new AIC module and reconnect the harnesses.
Reassembly and Calibration
Reconnect the battery. Note that installing a new AIC may require a John Deere Service ADVISOR tool to configure the Device ID Address and calibrate the armrest controls.
Clear Codes
Clear the stored diagnostic trouble codes and test the armrest functions to verify the repair.
