Issue description
The control software detects that the electrical current value at the Park Lock Solenoid 2 is too low. This condition typically indicates an open circuit in the wiring or a failure within the solenoid itself.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to Park Lock Solenoid 2 for any signs of damage, chafing, or disconnection.
Ensure all electrical connectors at the solenoid and the PL4 module are secure, fully seated, and free of corrosion or moisture.
Use a multimeter to test for continuity in the wiring between the PL4 controller and the Park Lock Solenoid 2 to confirm or rule out an open circuit.
Measure the internal resistance of Park Lock Solenoid 2 to determine if the coil has failed open.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Access the Solenoid
Locate Park Lock Solenoid 2 on the DirectDrive transmission housing.
Repair Wiring
If the multimeter continuity test revealed a broken wire or damaged connector, repair the wiring harness or replace the connector pigtail.
Replace Solenoid
If the wiring is intact but the solenoid fails the resistance test (or is physically damaged), remove the retaining hardware, extract the faulty Park Lock Solenoid 2, and install the replacement part.
Reassemble and Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and use a diagnostic tool (such as John Deere Service Advisor) to clear the PL4 516398.05 fault code. Test the park lock engagement to verify the repair.
