John Deere 516454.14 – SCO (Front Chassis Module): CAN BUS Message Fault SCV 10

A data transfer problem between the control software and the Electronic Selective Control Valve (E-SCV 10). The system is failing to receive expected CAN Bus messages from the valve, which can result in the control software limiting functionality or ceasing to function altogether, causing no function of the affected selective control valve.

   Inspect all CAN Bus wiring leading to the Front Chassis Module (SCO) and SCV 10 for signs of physical damage, loose connections, pinched wires, or corrosion

   Test the CAN Bus network for proper communication and address any voltage irregularities using a diagnostic tool. Wiggle-test the harness while monitoring data

   Verify that the E-SCV control unit is responding by attempting to recalibrate the unit via the tractor's display or diagnostic software

   Ensure that the SCO control software is up-to-date to rule out software incompatibilities triggering false CAN communication faults

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks reveal damaged wiring or corroded pins at the SCV 10 connector or the SCO module, clean the contacts, replace the damaged pins, or splice/replace the affected harness section.

   Recalibrate the Valve

   If the wiring is intact, follow the manufacturer's instructions to recalibrate the control software for the E-SCV. Ensure all active functions are calibrated correctly.

   Replace the E-SCV / Stepper Motor

   If the E-SCV control unit fails to communicate or will not accept calibration, the internal electronics or stepper motor on the valve have likely failed. Remove the faulty E-SCV actuator/valve assembly and install the replacement part.

   Final Calibration

   After replacing the valve or stepper motor, you must perform a final SCV calibration procedure to pair the new component with the Front Chassis Module.
