John Deere 516455.18 – Front Chassis Module (SCO): SCV 10 Valve Low Voltage / Front Hitch Actuator Voltage and Temperature Low
Issue description
The controller has detected that the electrical voltage supplied to or returning from the Selective Control Valve (SCV) 10 / Front Hitch Actuator has dropped below the acceptable operating threshold.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness routing from the Front Chassis Module (SCO) to the SCV 10 Valve / Front Hitch Actuator for any visible signs of chafing, pinching, or melting.
Disconnect the harness at the SCV 10 valve/actuator and check the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or pushed-back terminals.
Using a multimeter, verify the voltage at the SCV 10 connector with the key ON. A reading significantly lower than system voltage (12V) indicates a wiring issue (high resistance or short to ground).
Test the continuity of the power and ground circuits between the SCO module and the actuator to rule out an open circuit.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed a damaged wire or corroded connector, repair the wiring harness or splice in a new connector pigtail.
Replace the Valve/Actuator
If the wiring and voltage supply from the SCO module are verified to be good, relieve hydraulic pressure from the front hitch system, disconnect the electrical connector, unbolt and remove the faulty valve/actuator, and install the new valve with new O-rings, torqueing the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.
Reassemble and Test
Reconnect the electrical connector and the battery. Start the tractor, clear the stored 516455.18 fault code via the CommandCenter display or Service ADVISOR, and actuate the front hitch to verify proper operation without the code returning.
Parts you might need
(1)SCV 10 Valve / Front Hitch Actuator Solenoid
Ensure the replacement valve matches the specific front hitch hydraulic block configuration of your 6R or 8R series tractor. Always replace the mounting O-rings when installing a new valve to prevent hydraulic leaks.
