516460.04

John Deere 516460.04 – SCO: SCV 10 Valve Low Voltage Front Chassis Module (SCO)

Issue description

The control module is detecting a lower-than-expected electrical voltage on the driver circuit responsible for actuating the front hitch or Selective Control Valve (SCV) 10.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R
  • 6175R
  • 6195R
  • 6215R
  • 8245R
  • 8270R
  • 8295R
  • 8320R
  • 8345R
  • 8370R
  • 8400R

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect around the batteries and alternator for any signs of damage, accumulated debris, or loose connections that could cause a system-wide voltage drop.

  2. Check the fuses that supply power to the SCO module (commonly F12, F24, and F51, depending on the exact tractor model).

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors running from the SCO (Front Chassis Module) to the front hitch driver / SCV 10 valve. Look for chafed wires, corrosion, or bent pins that would cause high resistance and a low voltage reading.

  4. Cycle the front hitch/SCV switch through all positions to see if the code changes status.

  5. Use a multimeter to verify the actual voltage reaching the SCV 10 actuator.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Repair Wiring

If the diagnostic checks revealed damaged wiring or corroded connectors on the front hitch driver circuit, splice in new wiring or replace the damaged connector pigtail.

  3. Clean Grounds

Ensure the ground connections for the SCO module and the front chassis harness are clean and tight to the chassis.

  4. Replace the Module (If Necessary)

If the wiring harness tests perfectly (continuity is good and there is no short to ground) but the SCO module is failing to output the correct voltage to the SCV 10 valve, the SCO controller itself has internally failed and must be replaced.

  5. Reassemble and Calibrate

Reconnect the battery. If the SCO module was replaced, it may require a software calibration or address configuration via John Deere Service Advisor. Clear the stored fault codes and test the front hitch/SCV 10 operation.
