516676.09

John Deere 516676.09 – Cab Module (CLC): CAN BUS Message Issue Cab Module (CLC)

Issue description

This code indicates a communication failure or a missing message on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus specifically related to the Cab Load Center. The CLC is a solid-state load center that replaces traditional fused relay circuits and manages high-current loads in the cab, such as flood lights, warning lights, and wiper motors.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R
  • 6175R
  • 6195R
  • 6215R
  • 7R Series
  • 8R Series
  • 9R Series

Check the cause

  1. Perform a soft reset by power-cycling the tractor to see if the active code clears

  2. Disconnect any aftermarket accessories (flood lights, hazard lights, etc.) to ensure they are not drawing excessive current or causing CAN bus interference

  3. Verify the switched battery (ELX wake-up) voltage supplying the CLC is between 12.5 and 14.5 volts

  4. Inspect fuses related to the cab communication system (commonly F22, F23, and F30)

  5. Check the diagnostic menu for any accompanying voltage or CAN codes

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, place it in park, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during inspection.

  2. Inspect the Harness

Locate the Cab Load Center (CLC) module. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors plugging into the CLC for signs of corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.

  3. Test the CAN Bus

Using a multimeter, test the CAN High and CAN Low wires at the CLC connector. Verify there are no shorts to ground or shorts to power.

  4. Clean and Reconnect

If the connections are dirty, clean them with contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and securely reconnect the harness.

  5. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use the CommandCenter monitor to clear the codes (scroll through the codes until "END" appears, then clear).

  6. Module Replacement (If Necessary)

If the wiring is intact, the wake-up voltage is correct (12.5V–14.5V), and the code immediately returns, the CLC module itself has likely suffered an internal solid-state failure. Replace the module. Note: A new CLC module will require End-Of-Line (EOL) programming by a John Deere dealer using Service ADVISOR.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Cab Load Center (CLC) Control Unit / Cab Module

Specific part numbers vary heavily based on the exact tractor model, cab configuration, and serial number break. Provide the machine's PIN/VIN to a dealer.
