John Deere 516741.03 – Front Chassis Module (SCO): Front SCV 14 To 15 Diverter Valve High Voltage

The system has detected a "High Voltage" condition on the circuit controlling the Front Selective Control Valve (SCV) 14 to 15 diverter valve. This typically indicates a short to power, an open circuit, or an internally failed solenoid coil.

   Check for related diverter valve codes such as 516741.05 (Low Amp Draw) or 516741.06 (High Amp Draw) to confirm if the solenoid coil has failed internally.

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the Front Chassis Module (SCO) to the Front SCV diverter valve for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinched areas.

   Disconnect the diverter valve solenoid connector and check for water intrusion, corrosion, or bent pins.

   Measure the voltage at the harness connector (key on) to check for a short to power, and measure the resistance of the diverter valve solenoid coil (an infinite OL reading indicates an open coil).

   Relieve Pressure

   Before working near the SCV valves, lower all front loader/hitch attachments to the ground, turn off the engine, and cycle the SCV controls to relieve all hydraulic pressure.

   Disconnect Battery

   Disconnect the negative battery terminal to protect the Front Chassis Module (SCO) during electrical repairs.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to power or a broken wire in the harness, splice and repair the damaged section using OEM-approved weather-sealed connectors.

   Replace the Solenoid/Valve

   If the solenoid coil failed the resistance test: Disconnect the electrical connector from the diverter valve. Remove the retaining nut holding the solenoid coil to the diverter valve stem. Slide the old coil off and install the new replacement coil. (If the mechanical valve cartridge is also damaged/leaking, replace the entire diverter valve assembly).

   Reconnect the battery, clear the stored 516741.03 fault code from the SCO module, and test the Front SCV 14/15 functions (e.g., front loader or front hitch operation) to verify the repair.
