Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the loader boom position sensor (located at the boom pivot points or false rod cylinders) for physical damage from debris, branches, or material spillover.

  2. Disconnect the sensor and check the wiring harness and pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or broken wires. Trace the harness back to the Front Chassis Module (SCO) to ensure there are no pinches or chafing.

  3. Perform a sensor sweep test using a multimeter to measure resistance while manually moving the sensor arm. Look for dead spots or erratic resistance jumps indicating internal failure.

  4. Attempt to run the 'Front Loader Boom Position Sensor Calibration' via the tractor's CommandARM display monitor, as the code can trigger if the sensor loses its learned parameters.

Repair steps

  1. Safely Park the Machine

    Lower the loader boom completely to the ground so there is no stored hydraulic pressure or mechanical tension. Turn off the engine and remove the key.

  2. Disconnect Power

    Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent short circuits and to force the SCO module to reset.

  3. Remove the Faulty Sensor

    Locate the boom position sensor on the loader mast/pivot. Unplug the electrical connector. Remove the retaining bolts or mounting plate securing the sensor to the pivot pin.

  4. Install the New Sensor

    Mount the new sensor, ensuring the rotary tang or linkage aligns perfectly with the boom pivot slot. Do not force it, as misalignment will immediately break the internal potentiometer.

  5. Secure and Reconnect

    Tighten the mounting hardware to OEM torque specs and plug in the electrical connector. Ensure the wiring harness is zip-tied safely away from pinch points.

  6. Recalibrate

    Reconnect the battery and turn the key to the ON position. Navigate to the loader settings in the tractor's display and execute the Front Loader Boom Position Sensor Calibration procedure by moving the boom to its maximum upper and lower limits.
