517128.19

John Deere 517128.19 – Front Chassis Module (SCO): Loader Bucket Position Sensor Issue

Issue description

This fault code indicates a communication or signal error with the loader bucket position sensor. The ".19" suffix generally points to a network data error or an erratic signal being received by the controller.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R
  • 6175R
  • 6195R
  • 6215R

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the bucket position sensor, linkage arm, and mounting bracket for physical damage.

  2. Trace the wiring harness from the sensor back to the Front Chassis Module (SCO). Look for pinched wires, chafing along the loader boom, or debris packed into the electrical connector.

  3. Check for related calibration codes (520531.13, 520531.14, or 520531.16) on the display. A simple recalibration via the CommandCenter may clear the issue without requiring parts replacement.

Repair steps

  1. Safely Park the Machine

Lower the loader boom and rest the bucket flat on the ground. Turn off the engine and remove the key.

  2. Remove the Faulty Sensor

Locate the bucket position sensor on the loader linkage. Disconnect the wiring harness connector. Remove the retaining bolts/screws (typically M6 or M10 hardware depending on the exact loader model) and detach the sensor from the linkage.

  3. Install the New Sensor

Mount the replacement rotary position sensor to the bracket and attach the linkage arm. Secure the mounting hardware and reconnect the wiring harness.

  4. Perform Sensor Calibration

Because the sensor dictates the Return to Position (RTP) and Electronic Self-Leveling (ESL) limits, a new sensor must be calibrated.

  5. Set RTP Limits

Turn on the tractor and navigate to the RTP run page on the CommandCenter display. Move the loader bucket to the desired zero/ground position and press the on-screen zero button to save the new sensor's baseline parameters.
