John Deere 520255.09 – HV1 / HCC: Internal CAN BUS Message Missing From The HCC Software. (HV1)

Communication failure on the tractor's Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. Specifically, the expected data messages from the HCC (Hitch Control Center) software are missing, interrupted, or not being received by the HV1 module.

   Cycle tractor power by turning off the key switch to attempt a vehicle recovery

   Verify system voltage by inspecting batteries, alternator, and system fuses (such as F30)

   Inspect the rear hitch control lever and external switches for damage, wear, or simultaneous activation

   Examine CAN bus wiring and connections between the HCC and HV1 modules for looseness, corrosion, or physical damage

   Power Down

   Turn off the engine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.

   Locate the Modules

   Locate the Hitch Control Center (HCC) module and the Hitch Valve 1 (HV1) control unit on the rear chassis/hitch assembly.

   Disconnect and Inspect Harnesses

   Disconnect the wiring harness connectors at both the HCC and HV1 modules. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins.

   Test CAN Bus Continuity

   Using a multimeter, verify data transmission lines by testing the CAN bus wiring between the control lever, HCC, and HV1 for continuity and short circuits.

   Repair Wiring

   Replace or repair any faulty wiring, damaged pins, or corroded connectors found during the inspection.

   Reconnect and Test

   Reconnect all modules securely, reconnect the battery, and start the tractor. Cycle the hitch to see if the system recovers.
