John Deere 520260 – HV1: Rear Hitch Stepper Motor High Amps (HV1)

The control unit has detected that the electric stepper motor responsible for actuating the rear hitch hydraulic valve is drawing an abnormally high amount of electrical current (amperage).

   Cycle the key switch or external hitch control lever to attempt a temporary system recovery

   Verify power supply voltage to the HV1 module; low voltage can cause higher amp draw. Reduce electrical load or increase engine RPM to test recovery

   Inspect the hitch's nylon strips and threads for wear or breakage that could cause mechanical binding and excess motor load

   Check the hydraulic system for a failing pump or sticking compensator valve (look for elevated oil temperatures or whining noises)

   Run ECU diagnostics using a commercial tool to read failure memory, monitor live sensor values, and verify valve positioning

   Safely park the tractor, lower the hitch to the ground, and relieve all hydraulic pressure.

   Locate the rear hitch control valve assembly (HV1) on the tractor.

   Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the stepper motor.

   Remove the faulty stepper motor from the hydraulic lift valve block.

   Install the new electric stepper motor onto the valve assembly.

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Perform an electro-hydraulic linkage calibration.
