John Deere 520286.02 – HCC / AIC: Rear Hitch Lower Setpoint Switch fault / Armrest Hitch Controls Module Circuit Fault
Issue description
The 'Set Rear hitch lower setpoint button' located on the armrest hitch controls module is not operating correctly. The system has detected a circuit fault, typically caused by an electrical issue (such as a short to ground), a mechanical failure of the button, or a software disruption, causing the control unit to disable the function.

Check the cause
Move the quick raise/lower switch to the center position to attempt an operator system recovery
Cycle the tractor's key switch (turn power off and back on) to see if the code clears
Check the rear hitch lower setpoint button on the armrest for physical impairments, dirt, debris, or mechanical sticking
Test the electrical circuit integrity of the Armrest Hitch Controls Module to ensure signal pathways are continuous, specifically checking for a short to ground
Repair steps
Attempt Reset
Put the quick raise/lower switch to the center position and cycle the tractor power.
Clean the Switch
If the button feels sticky or fails to return to its neutral position, carefully clean the area around the switch mechanism to free it.
Inspect Wiring
Access the wiring harness leading to the Armrest Hitch Controls Module (or Rear Chassis Module). Inspect for damaged wires, corrosion, or loose connections that could disrupt the circuit.
Repair Connections
Repair or replace any faulty wiring or connectors found during the inspection.
Replace the Module/Switch
If the wiring is intact but the switch remains unresponsive or tests faulty with a multimeter, the internal switch or the entire Armrest Hitch Controls Module is defective and must be replaced.
Post-Repair Verification
After completing repairs or replacements, restart the tractor, reset the system, and perform operational tests on the rear hitch to verify that the controls function correctly without throwing the 520286.02 code.
