520426.07

John Deere 520426.07 – Armrest Interface Control Unit (AIC) / Arm Rest Module or Cab Module: CAN BUS Message Issue / Vehicle CAN Bus Error Counter High

Issue description

There is an excessive error rate with transmitted or received CAN bus messages. This points to a communication fault on the CAN bus network, which is typically caused by electrical interference, faulty wiring/components, or a network overload. When this error is detected, the control software may experience limited or no functionality.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness for any physical damage, loose connections, or corrosion.

  2. Ensure there are no sources of electrical interference near the CAN bus network that could be corrupting the communication signals.

  3. Verify that proper termination resistors are installed at both ends of the CAN bus network.

  4. Monitor the CAN bus load to ensure the network is not overloaded with devices.

  5. Verify that the control software for the AIC or Cab Module is updated to the latest version.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery power

Disconnect battery power before servicing the electrical system.

  2. Repair or replace wiring

Repair or replace any compromised wiring, corroded pins, or faulty connectors found during the CAN bus network inspection.

  3. Install termination resistors

If termination resistors are found to be faulty or missing, install new OEM termination resistors.

  4. Replace control module

If the wiring and network are verified to be in good condition but the module fails to communicate properly, replace the Armrest Interface Control Unit (AIC) or the Cab Control Module.

  5. Update software

Update the module software to the latest version if a new module is installed or if a software patch is available.

  6. Clear codes

After resolving the underlying issues, clear the codes to reset the error counter.

  7. Operate and monitor

Operate the machine and monitor the CAN Bus operation to ensure that error rates remain low and normal function is restored.
