Issue description

The electrical current being drawn through the tractor's ISOBUS implement power circuit has exceeded the maximum allowable threshold, pointing to a short circuit or an overloaded circuit.

Check the cause

  1. Disconnect the implement from the rear ISOBUS socket (IBBC) to isolate the fault. If the code goes inactive, the implement is drawing excessive current or has a short in its wiring.

  2. Inspect the rear ISOBUS socket for dirt, moisture, corrosion, or melted pins. Debris or water inside the connector can bridge the power and ground pins, causing a high amp draw.

  3. Check the implement BUS fuse (typically a 60-amp fuse for the implement socket) to see if it has blown due to the high current draw.

  4. Test the wiring harness running from the Cab Load Center (CLC) to the Implement Power Relay and back to the ISOBUS socket for shorts to ground or chafed insulation.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

    Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent further electrical damage.

  2. Replace ISOBUS socket

    If the diagnostic checks revealed a damaged or heavily corroded rear ISOBUS socket, unbolt the socket housing from the rear console and disconnect the wiring harness. Install a new ISOBUS socket and ensure the quick-release locking clamp and waterproof seal are intact.

  3. Locate Implement Power Relay Module

    If the socket and wiring are in good condition but the fault persists without an implement attached, locate the Implement Power Relay Module (usually located in the cab load center or rear electrical center depending on the tractor series).

  4. Replace Implement Power Relay Module

    Remove the faulty Implement Power Relay Module and replace it with a new OEM module.

  5. Replace blown fuses

    Replace any blown fuses on the implement power circuit.

  6. Verify code clearance

    Reconnect the battery and turn the key to the ON position. Verify that the 520490.06 code has cleared.

  7. Test system under load

    Reconnect the implement and test the system under load to ensure the high amp draw condition does not return.
