John Deere 520491.06 – CLC (Cab Load Center / Cab Module) / BLC (Base Load Controller): ISO BUS Socket High Amp Draw On Module Supply Line
Issue description
The control module has detected that the electrical current (amperage) being drawn through the implement power supply circuit—which feeds the 9-pin ISOBUS socket at the rear of the tractor—exceeds the maximum allowable threshold.

Check the cause
Isolate the Implement: Disconnect the implement from the tractor's rear ISOBUS socket. Clear the codes and cycle the key. If the code does not return, the issue is not the tractor; the implement's wiring is shorted or its ECU is drawing too much current.
Inspect the ISOBUS Socket: Check the 9-pin ISOBUS socket on the rear of the tractor for dirt, moisture, corrosion, or melted pins that could be bridging the power supply directly to ground.
Relay Testing: Locate the Implement Electronic Control Unit Power Relay in the cab load center/fuse panel. Swap it with a known good relay of the same type to see if the relay's internal contacts are shorted or sticking.
Harness Continuity Check: Use a multimeter to check the power supply line from the CLC/Relay panel to the ISOBUS socket. Look for chafed wires shorting against the tractor chassis, particularly near the rear axle or cab pivot points.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.
Address the Socket
If the ISOBUS socket was found to be corroded or shorted, unbolt the socket assembly from the rear bracket, de-pin the connector, and wire in a replacement ISOBUS socket.
Repair the Harness
If the wiring harness is chafed, cut out the damaged wire section, solder in a new wire, and seal it with dual-wall heat shrink tubing to prevent moisture ingress.
Replace the Relay
Replace the Implement Power Relay in the fuse panel if it tested faulty or if the contacts show signs of heat damage/arcing.
Test the System
Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and verify that the 520491.06 code is no longer active. Reconnect the implement to ensure the system handles the load without tripping the code again.
Module Replacement
If all wiring, relays, and sockets test perfectly fine, the CLC (Cab Load Center) itself may have an internal short and will require replacement and reprogramming by a dealer.
