John Deere 520531.12 – Front Chassis Module (SCO): Loader Bucket Position Sensor Issue
Issue description
This sensor monitors the angle and position of the front loader bucket, which is critical for the tractor's Return-to-Position (RTP) function and overall electro-hydraulic loader control.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- 6110R
- 6120R
- 6130R
- 6145R
- 6155R
- 6175R
- 6195R
- 6215R
Check the cause
Check for related active codes like 520531.13 or 520531.14, which indicate a calibration is needed rather than a complete failure.
Inspect the bucket position sensor wiring harness on the loader frame for physical damage, chafing, or pinched wires.
Disconnect the sensor and check the connector pins for moisture, dirt, or corrosion.
Repair steps
Locate the Sensor
Find the bucket position sensor mounted on the front loader boom/bucket linkage.
Disconnect and Remove
Unplug the sensor from the main wiring harness. Unbolt the sensor from its mounting bracket.
Replace Components
If the wiring harness is damaged, replace it. Otherwise, install the new inductive position sensor into the mounting bracket.
Reconnect
Plug the sensor back into the harness, ensuring the connector clicks and locks to prevent moisture intrusion.
Calibrate
You must perform a 'Front Loader Bucket Position Sensor Calibration' after replacing the sensor. This is done through the tractor's cab display (RTP - Return-to-Position page) so the SCO module can learn the new sensor's minimum and maximum voltage sweeps.
