520531.16

John Deere 520531.16 – Front Chassis Module (SCO): Loader Bucket Position Sensor Issue

Issue description

The controller is receiving an erratic, out-of-range, or uncalibrated signal from the sensor that monitors the angle/position of the front loader bucket.

Applies to these machines

  • 6110R
  • 6120R
  • 6130R
  • 6145R
  • 6155R
  • 6175R
  • 6195R
  • 6215R

Check the cause

  1. Check calibration status and attempt to recalibrate the front loader bucket position sensor via the tractor's display monitor or John Deere Service ADVISOR tool.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness running from the Front Chassis Module (SCO) to the loader bucket position sensor for pinched wires, corrosion in the connector pins, or a loose connection.

  3. Examine the bucket sensor assembly tube and linkage for physical damage, bending, or debris buildup that might prevent the sensor from reading the full range of motion.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and remove the key to ensure the SCO module is powered down.

  2. Locate the Sensor

Find the bucket position sensor on the front loader frame/linkage (often housed within a protective sensor assembly tube).

  3. Remove the Faulty Sensor

Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the sensor. Remove the retaining bolts/hardware and carefully slide the sensor off its mounting pivot.

  4. Install the New Sensor

Mount the replacement sensor in the exact orientation as the old one. Secure the mounting hardware and plug in the electrical connector.

  5. Recalibrate

Turn the key on and use the tractor's command center or a diagnostic tool to run the 'Front Loader Bucket Position Sensor Calibration' routine. You will be prompted to move the bucket through its full range of motion (fully curled to fully dumped) to set the parameters.
