John Deere 520531.18 – Front Chassis Module (SCO): Loader Bucket Position Sensor Issue

The system has detected a fault, invalid reading, or calibration error originating from the sensor that monitors the tilt/position of the front loader bucket.

   Check Calibration Status: Attempt to recalibrate the bucket position sensor through the tractor's monitor to resolve calibration errors.

   Inspect Wiring and Harnesses: Check the wiring harness leading to the bucket position sensor for chafing, pinches, or shorts to ground/power.

   Check Hydraulic Connections: Ensure that all front loader hydraulic couplers are fully seated, as partially unplugged couplers can restrict flow and cause erratic behavior.

   Relieve Pressure

   Before disconnecting any hydraulic lines or working near the loader cylinders, safely lower the loader to the ground, turn off the engine, and relieve all hydraulic pressure in the system.

   Locate the Sensor

   Identify the loader bucket position sensor on the loader frame/linkage.

   Disconnect Electrical Harness

   Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the bucket position sensor.

   Remove the Sensor

   Unbolt or unthread the defective position sensor from its mounting bracket or control valve.

   Install the New Sensor

   Mount the replacement sensor into position and secure the retaining nut/hardware.

   Reconnect Wiring

   Reconnect the electrical harness to the new sensor, ensuring the connector clicks into place and is free of dirt or moisture.

   Recalibrate

   Turn the machine on and perform the Front Loader Bucket Position Sensor Calibration procedure so the Front Chassis Module (SCO) can learn the new sensor's parameters.
