John Deere 520871.02 – TIQ: Control Software, Internal Error
Issue description
Internal memory error when the module attempts to read or write to its internal EEPROM. The control software has detected data corruption, an invalid checksum, or a hardware malfunction within the memory chip.

Check the cause
Perform a soft reset by cycling the tractor's ignition key OFF, waiting 30 seconds, and turning it back ON to clear transient EEPROM read errors
Verify system power integrity by checking the tractor's battery voltage, battery terminals, and chassis grounds for voltage spikes, low voltage during cranking, or intermittent grounding issues
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors going to the TIQ module for loose pins, corrosion, or damaged wires that could cause power interruptions
Connect John Deere Service Advisor to check for available software updates for the TIQ module, as software bugs can trigger false internal memory faults
Repair steps
Power Cycle & Clear
Attempt to clear the code via the CommandCenter display or John Deere Service Advisor. Cycle the key power. If the code does not return, the issue was temporary.
Update Software
If the code is active or returns frequently, use John Deere Service Advisor to reflash/update the TIQ module's control software to the latest version. This rewrites the EEPROM and can fix corrupted configuration data.
Recalibrate
Because the fault forces the module to revert to factory defaults, you may need to perform transmission and clutch calibrations via Service Advisor after the software flash.
Replace Module
If the code persists immediately after a software reflash and power integrity has been verified, the EEPROM chip inside the module has suffered a hard physical failure. The TIQ module must be replaced.
Program New Module
Install the new TIQ module and use Service Advisor to program the payload and configure it to the tractor's specific VIN and options.
