John Deere 521001.06 – HCU: Rear Hitch Raise Solenoid Current High

The control module has detected an electrical current flowing to the rear hitch raise solenoid/valve that exceeds the normal or expected operating range. When this code is active, the rear hitch will typically be disabled and will not raise.

   Place the tractor in park, shut off the engine, and restart to verify if the code clears via a communication reset.

   Inspect the Rear Hitch Raise Valve and its wiring harness for any signs of physical damage, loose connections, pinched wires, or corrosion.

   Test the wiring circuit between the HCU and the raise solenoid for a short to ground or a short to power.

   Ensure that the external fender switches (if equipped) or internal cab switches are not stuck or being activated simultaneously.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic circuit test reveals a short in the harness or a corroded connector at the solenoid, repair or replace the affected wiring segment.

   Replace Solenoid/Valve

   If the wiring and connectors are intact and supplying the correct voltage, the internal coil of the Rear Hitch Raise Solenoid has likely failed (shorted internally). Replace the faulty solenoid/valve.

   Perform HCU Calibration

   After replacing the valve or repairing the wiring, you must calibrate the hitch. Use the tractor's CommandCenter display or dealer diagnostic software to perform the 'Rear Hitch Raise Valve maximum current' calibration.
