   Cycle the power by restarting the engine and cycling the key switch ON and OFF to reset communication messages

   Verify the hydraulic oil level is not low (low oil often triggers companion code 002602.18)

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors at the rear hitch lower solenoid for faults (often associated with companion code 523652.02)

   Verify if the hitch will still operate in manual mode to isolate the issue to the automated calibration or electronic control circuit

   Clear and Verify

   Clear the stored codes on the CommandCenter display. Manipulate the hitch lever with the key on (tractor off) to see if the code returns immediately.

   Inspect the Solenoid

   Locate the Rear Hitch Control Valve block. Inspect the specific solenoid responsible for the 'Lower' function (Rear Hitch Lower Solenoid). Check for high amperage draw indicating a shorted solenoid coil.

   Replace Faulty Components

   If the solenoid coil is shorted (High Amps) or the valve is internally damaged, replace the Rear Hitch Control Valve or the specific lower solenoid.

   Calibrate the Hitch

   Have a John Deere dealer (or use dealer-level diagnostic software) calibrate the hitch before full automated functionality is restored.
