Check the cause

  1. Check the CommandQuad Range Switch A or the e23 Drive Lever on the CommandARM console to ensure it is not physically stuck, jammed by debris, or sticky from spilled liquids.

  2. Set the switch to the unpressed (neutral) position and cycle the tractor's key switch to attempt system recovery.

  3. Perform the 'AIC—e23™ Drive Lever Circuit Test' or 'CommandQuad Range Switch Circuit Test' as outlined in the John Deere service manual.

  4. Check the wiring harness and connector pins between the Transmission Control Lever Module and the AIC for bent pins, loose connections, or a short to power/ground.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

    Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery ground if you will be probing live circuits or replacing modules.

  2. Access the CommandARM

    Carefully remove the trim panels on the CommandARM console to access the internal switch modules and wiring.

  3. Disconnect the Module

    Unplug the connector for the Transmission Control Lever Module (Drive Lever/Range Switch).

  4. Test the Switch

    Using a multimeter, test the continuity of the switch's ON and OFF contacts. If both contacts show continuity simultaneously when the button is at rest, the switch is internally shorted and the module must be replaced.

  5. Test the Harness

    If the switch tests fine, check the wiring harness between the lever module connector and the AIC for continuity and shorts. Repair any damaged wires.

  6. Replace the Component

    If the switch is faulty, remove the mounting screws and install a new Transmission Control Lever Module. If the switch and wiring are both good, the fault lies within the Armrest Interface Control Unit (AIC), which will need to be replaced and reprogrammed by a dealer.

  7. Reassembly

    Reconnect all harnesses, reassemble the CommandARM console, reconnect the battery, and cycle the key to verify the fault code 521136.02 has cleared.
