John Deere 521165.08 – CSM (Cabin Switch Module): Radio Mute Button Issue

   Inspect the Radio Mute Button (Button 'E' on the CommandARM panel) to see if it is physically stuck, depressed, or damaged by debris or spills.

   Stop the machine and restart it to see if the fault clears from the CommandCenter display, as some switch faults can be temporary glitches.

   Access the underside of the CommandARM console and check the wiring harness connecting the Climate/Radio control pad to the Cabin Switch Module (CSM) for loose connectors, pinched wires, or corrosion.

   Use the CommandCenter display or John Deere Service Advisor to monitor the live input of the CSM. Press the Radio Mute button to see if the module registers the state change.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the CommandARM

   Remove the retaining screws and plastic trim pieces on the CommandARM console to access the internal control boards.

   Remove the Control Panel

   Locate the 'Climate, Radio, and Lighting Controls' sub-panel. Carefully disconnect the wiring harness linking this panel to the CSM.

   Replace the Component

   Depending on the exact hardware revision, the Radio Mute Button may not be serviceable individually. If the switch is soldered to the board or integrated into a sealed membrane, replace the entire Climate/Radio control panel assembly.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the wiring harness to the new control panel and secure it back into the CommandARM console. Reinstall all trim pieces.

   Testing & Clearing Codes

   Reconnect the battery and power on the machine. Test the radio mute function to ensure it works correctly. Navigate to the CommandCenter display to verify the 521165.08 fault code has moved to 'Stored' or 'Inactive' status, and clear it.
