John Deere 521214.11 – EIC (Engine Interface Control Unit): Immobilizer Control Device Fault / Key authentication failed
Issue description
The tractor's immobilizer system did not recognize the transponder chip inside the ignition key. When this fault is active, the engine is disabled; it may start briefly and shut off automatically, or it may just crank without starting.

Check the cause
Verify the Key Type: Ensure you are using the correct immobilizer key with an embedded transponder chip. A standard metal key will fit the ignition but will trigger this fault.
Cycle the Power: Cycle the key switch or follow the solution prompt on the CommandCenter™ display to attempt to clear the fault.
Repair steps
Clear the Fault with a Valid Key
If an incorrect key was used by mistake, remove it. Insert a valid, programmed immobilizer key into the ignition.
Authentication Pause
Turn the key to switch on the ignition, but DO NOT START the engine immediately.
Wait
Wait at least 3 seconds to allow the EIC to authenticate the transponder chip.
Restart
Start the engine to attempt vehicle recovery.
Dealer Programming
If keys are lost or damaged, contact a John Deere dealer to order a replacement and have the EIC reprogrammed to accept the new key (and lock out the lost one).
Wiring/Module Inspection
If the fault persists with a known good, programmed key, inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the ignition switch transponder ring and the EIC. If the wiring is intact, the EIC module itself may be faulty and require dealer replacement.
