John Deere 521237.03 – PTD: Forward Clutch Oil Pressure Too High
Issue description
The oil pressure at the forward clutch exceeds 2 bar (200 kPa; 29 psi) even though no oil pressure was commanded/specified by the system, which may cause the control software to limit or disable transmission functions.

Check the cause
Inspect the forward clutch oil circuit for any physical blockages, restrictions, or leaks that could cause residual pressure buildup.
Perform a diagnostic test on the forward clutch proportional solenoid valve to ensure it is opening and closing correctly and not sticking in an open/pressurized state.
Verify that the transmission oil pump is operating correctly and providing the appropriate baseline pressure without surging.
Repair steps
Clear blockages or repair/replace damaged components
Clear any blockages or repair/replace any damaged hydraulic lines or components found in the forward clutch oil circuit.
Replace the proportional solenoid valve
If the proportional solenoid valve fails the diagnostic test (e.g., sticking open and allowing uncommanded pressure), remove and replace the defective solenoid valve.
Replace the oil pump
If the oil pump is found to be malfunctioning and causing systemic pressure issues, replace the oil pump.
Clear diagnostic trouble codes
Clear the diagnostic trouble codes from the PTD/TCU.
Operate the tractor and monitor the system
Operate the tractor and monitor the system, specifically checking the oil pressure at the forward clutch to ensure it stays within the specified range (under 2 bar when uncommanded).
