Communication failure over the CAN bus where the control module is not receiving the expected authentication message from the immobilizer control device. The engine may crank but will not start, or it will start and run only briefly before shutting off automatically.

   Verify the operator is using a valid Immobilizer Key with a programmed transponder chip, not a standard unchipped key.

   Check for related EIC codes (such as 521321.12, 521322.07, or 521322.31) that might pinpoint a specific immobilizer component failure.

   Turn the key switch off, wait, and cycle the tractor power to see if the module recovers and the code clears.

   Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness and connectors between the immobilizer antenna/control console and the EIC module for physical damage, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Key Recovery Procedure

   If the tractor was mistakenly started with the wrong key, insert a valid immobilizer key into the ignition. Turn the ignition to the 'ON' position but DO NOT START the engine. Wait at least 3 seconds for the EIC to recognize the transponder, then attempt to start the engine.

   Wiring Repair

   If the key is correct but the message is still missing, use a multimeter to test the CAN bus lines between the immobilizer module and the EIC. Repair any broken wires or replace damaged connector pins.

   Component Replacement

   If the wiring is intact and the key is known to be good, the immobilizer antenna/sensor or the immobilizer control module itself has likely failed and must be replaced.

   Reprogramming

   If a new immobilizer module is installed, or if all keys are lost and need replacing, a John Deere dealer must use Service ADVISOR to program the new components to the tractor's EIC.
