John Deere 521405.19 – SCO: Problem With Switch Position Signal From SCV Switch Depending
Issue description
The control module is receiving an erratic, out-of-range, or missing position signal from the SCV control switch (either a paddle pot or a joystick in the cab). The module cannot determine the physical position the operator is commanding, which usually results in the disabling of the affected hydraulic remote to prevent unintended hydraulic movement.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the SCV switch (paddle or joystick) in the cab for physical damage, sticking, or debris preventing full travel.
Turn the key ON (engine off) and cycle the affected SCV switch through all of its positions (extend, retract, float, neutral) to see if the code clears or changes status.
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the SCV switch/joystick and the SCO module for pinched wires, corrosion in the pins, or loose connections.
Check for related SCO codes related to voltage supply (e.g., SCO 000158.04 or 001080.03) or CAN bus communication errors (e.g., SCO 516455.03) which can cause the switch signal to fail.
Determine if the SCV has lost its calibration by attempting a simple recalibration of the SCV levers via the CommandCenter display.
Repair steps
Power Down
Lower all hydraulic equipment to the ground, turn off the engine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery ground strap.
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed a damaged harness or corroded connector between the cab controls and the SCO, repair the wiring or replace the connector pins.
Replace the SCV Switch/Joystick
If the wiring is intact but the signal is still failing, the internal potentiometer/sensor in the SCV switch has failed. Remove the armrest/console trim to access the SCV switch block. Disconnect the electrical connector from the bottom of the faulty SCV switch. Unbolt and remove the faulty switch/paddle. Install the new SCV switch and reconnect the harness.
Reassemble and Power Up
Reinstall the console trim and reconnect the battery.
Calibrate the New Switch
Turn the key ON. Navigate to the SCV settings in the tractor's CommandCenter display and perform the SCV lever calibration procedure. Note: If the tractor requires a dealer-level calibration, John Deere Service ADVISOR software may be required.
Test Operation
Start the tractor and verify that the hydraulic remote operates smoothly without throwing the 521405.19 code.
