John Deere 521476.02 – AIC (Armrest Interface Control): Armrest Rear Hitch Setup Controls Module Circuit Fault
Issue description
A Local Interconnect Network (LIN) data fault originating from the rear hitch setup controls module, indicating a disrupted data transfer or communication failure between the control software and the LIN Bus module at position 'S' or 'M'. The system typically shifts into a 'Limited Function' mode to prevent incorrect operation of the hitch.

Check the cause
Check for related AIC codes (such as 521480.02 or 521570.09) that may indicate a broader LIN bus failure rather than a single module issue.
Access the wiring harness for the LIN Bus Module at Position S inside the armrest and ensure all connections are secure, clean, and intact.
Inspect the wiring for physical damage such as pinches, chafing, or loose pins that could disrupt LIN data transfer to the AIC.
Use John Deere Service Advisor to perform diagnostic testing and analyze the LIN Bus module's ability to send and receive data accurately.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the CommandARM™ console.
Access the Module
Remove the necessary Command Arm covers (e.g., cover part R306996) to access the internal control modules.
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed damaged or loose wiring on the LIN bus circuit, repair the wiring harness or replace the damaged connector pins.
Replace the Module
If the wiring is intact and the module is confirmed faulty, disconnect the electrical connector from the Armrest Rear Hitch Setup Controls Module and remove the unit. Install the new module and securely reconnect the LIN bus harness.
Reassemble
Reinstall the Command Arm covers and secure all housing components.
System Reset and Test
Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and use the CommandCenter display or Service Advisor to clear the stored AIC 521476.02 code. Test the Rate of Drop, Depth, and Lift Upper Limit dials to ensure the rear hitch responds correctly and no new codes are generated.
