John Deere 521533.05 – VLC: Front Outer Hood Flood Lights Left Circuit Current Low

The system has detected that the electrical current (amperage) on the circuit supplying power to the left front outer hood work light is lower than expected when the lights are commanded on. This typically indicates an open circuit, which is most commonly caused by a blown bulb, a disconnected plug, or high resistance in the wiring harness or connectors.

   Visually confirm if the left front outer hood flood light is illuminating when the work lights are turned on

   Inspect the bulb for a broken filament (if halogen) or burnt diodes (if LED)

   Unplug the connector at the light housing and check for moisture, dirt, corrosion, or pushed-back pins

   Using a multimeter, check for 12V power and a solid ground at the light connector when the work lights are switched on

   If there is no power at the connector, trace the wiring harness back to the Vehicle Load Center (VLC) module, looking for chafed wires, breaks, or pinched areas

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and remove the key

   This is to de-energize the electrical system.

   Access the left front outer hood flood light assembly

   Located on the bonnet.

   Disconnect the wiring harness connector

   Disconnect from the back of the light.

   Remove the bulb/lamp assembly

   If the bulb is blown, replace it with a new OEM or equivalent bulb.

   Clean the pins using electrical contact cleaner

   If the bulb is intact but the connector is corroded, clean the pins and apply a small amount of dielectric grease to prevent future moisture intrusion before reconnecting.

   Repair the broken wire using heat-shrink butt connectors

   If the wiring harness is damaged, repair it to ensure a weather-tight seal.

   Reconnect the light assembly

   Turn the key switch on and activate the work lights

   Verify the light operates correctly

   The fault code may clear automatically, or you may need to cycle the key switch to clear the active code from the CommandCenter display.
