John Deere 521535.03 – RLC (Roof Lighting Controller / Cab Roof Module): Mid Body Flood Light Left Voltage High
Issue description
The controller is detecting higher-than-expected voltage at the pin for the left mid-body flood light when the circuit is commanded ON. This typically indicates an open circuit, which is most commonly caused by a blown bulb/failed LED, a broken wire, or high resistance (corrosion/loose pins) in a connector.

Check the cause
Inspect the left mid-body/grab rail flood light for a blown halogen filament, visible LED diode burnout, or moisture intrusion.
Perform a component swap test by swapping the left mid-body light with the right side to see if the fault follows the light assembly.
Trace the wiring from the left mid-body light back to the cab roof interconnects, looking for pinched wires, rubbed insulation, or loose ground connections.
Disconnect the harness at the light and at the RLC to inspect pins for green corrosion, pushed-back pins, or spread terminals causing high resistance.
Repair steps
Secure machine
Park the machine on a level surface, turn off the engine, and remove the key to ensure no power is sent to the RLC.
Locate light
Locate the left mid-body flood light mounted on the cab grab rail or pedestal bracket.
Disconnect connector
Disconnect the electrical pigtail connector at the back of the light assembly.
Remove hardware
Remove the mounting nut and bolt securing the light bracket to the grab rail/pedestal.
Remove light
Remove the faulty light assembly.
Mount new light
Mount the new replacement light assembly to the bracket and tighten the mounting hardware to secure it.
Connect new light
Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the electrical connector to prevent future moisture intrusion, and plug it into the new light until the locking tab clicks.
Verify operation
Turn the tractor's key to the ON position and turn on the work lights to verify the new light illuminates.
Clear fault code
Access the tractor's CommandCenter display to clear the stored 521535.03 fault code.
