John Deere 521535.06 – RLC (Roof Lighting Controller / Cab Roof Module): Mid Body Flood Light Left Current High

The control module has detected an abnormally high electrical current draw on the circuit powering the left mid-body flood light. This typically indicates a short circuit to earth (ground) within the wiring harness, a melted connector, or an internal short inside the light bulb/LED assembly itself.

   Visual Inspection: Inspect the left mid-body (grab rail) flood light for physical damage, water intrusion, or a burnt-out/shorted bulb.

   Disconnect and Re-test: Disconnect the electrical pigtail at the left mid-body light. Turn the tractor and lights back on. If the code changes from 521535.06 (Current High) to 521535.05 (Current Low / Open Circuit), the short is internal to the light assembly itself, and the light must be replaced.

   Harness Check: If the 521535.06 code remains active while the light is unplugged, the short to earth is in the tractor's wiring harness. Use a multimeter to check for continuity to ground on the power supply pin of the harness connector. Trace the wire back to the RLC module, looking for pinched wires, chafing against the cab frame, or melted insulation.

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and turn off the battery disconnect switch to ensure the RLC circuit is unpowered.

   Locate the left mid-body flood light assembly mounted on the cab/grab rail.

   Unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the light.

   Inspect the pins for melting or corrosion; if the connector is melted, splice in a new pigtail connector.

   If the diagnostic checks pointed to a faulty light, unbolt the mounting bracket holding the light to the rail.

   Install the replacement LED/halogen work light assembly onto the bracket and tighten the mounting hardware.

   Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the connector pins to prevent moisture intrusion, then plug the harness into the new light.

   Restore battery power, turn the key to the ON position, and activate the work lights.

   Verify that the left mid-body light illuminates and that the RLC 521535.06 fault code has moved to 'Stored' or cleared entirely.
