Check the cause

  1. Visual Inspection: Inspect the front left outer roof light for physical damage, cracked lenses, or moisture intrusion.

  2. Connector Check: Disconnect the light assembly and inspect the wiring harness connector for pushed-out pins, corrosion, or water ingress.

  3. Swap Test (A/B Testing): Swap the front left roof light with the front right roof light. If the fault code changes to the right side, the light assembly is faulty. If the code remains, the issue is in the wiring harness or the RLC module.

  4. Harness Testing: Use a multimeter to check the wiring harness between the RLC module and the front left light connector for continuity or a short to a 12V power source.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery

This prevents electrical spikes during the repair.

  2. Safely access the front left corner of the cab roof

  3. Remove the mounting hardware securing the outer work light/warning light

Remove the screws and plastic bezel.

  4. Unplug the plug-and-play electrical connector from the back of the light

  5. Plug the connector into the new replacement light assembly

Ensure the weather-tight seal clicks into place.

  6. Mount the new light into the roof housing

Secure it with the original stainless steel hardware and bezel.

  7. Reconnect the battery and turn the key to the ON position

  8. Test the roof lights/warning lights

Ensure proper operation of the newly installed light.

  9. Clear the inactive 521537.03 fault code

Use the tractor's CommandCenter display or John Deere Service Advisor.
