John Deere 521537.05 – RLC (Roof Lighting Control): Front Roof Warning (NA Only) or Front Corner Roof Light (Eur Only) Left Current Low

The control module is detecting less electrical current than expected on the circuit powering the front-left roof warning light (or corner roof light, depending on the region). A 'Current Low' condition almost always indicates an open circuit—most commonly a blown bulb, a burnt-out LED assembly, a disconnected/corroded harness connector, or a broken wire.

   Turn on the work lights/warning lights and visually confirm that the front-left outer roof light is out.

   Remove the front-left light assembly and swap it with the front-right light assembly. If the fault code changes to the right side, the light bulb or LED assembly is faulty. If the fault code remains 521537.05, the issue is in the wiring harness or the RLC module.

   Inspect the pigtail connector at the left roof light for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or moisture intrusion. Trace the harness back toward the RLC module looking for pinch points or rodent damage.

   Verify the roof cab ground connections are clean and tight, as poor grounds can sometimes trigger false current readings.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and turn off the battery disconnect switch to prevent short circuits.

   Access the Light

   Safely access the front-left corner of the cab roof.

   Remove the Housing

   Depending on the exact cab package (Standard vs. Premium LED), remove the retaining screws holding the work light/warning light bezel to the roof cap.

   Disconnect

   Pull the light assembly forward and unplug the weather-pack electrical connector.

   Replace

   Connect the new OEM light assembly to the harness.

   Reinstall

   Seat the light back into the roof cavity and secure the retaining screws. Do not overtighten, as this can crack the plastic housing.

   Clear Codes

   Restore battery power, turn the key to the ON position, and activate the warning/work lights. The RLC module should detect the correct current draw, and the code will change to a 'Stored' status or clear entirely.
