521537.06

John Deere 521537.06 – RLC (Roof Lighting Control Unit): Front Roof Warning (North America Only) or Front Corner Roof Light (Europe Only) Left Current High

Issue description

The system has detected "Current High" (High Amps) on the circuit powering the front-left outer roof light. This typically indicates a short circuit to ground within the wiring harness, a melted connector, or an internal short within the light assembly itself causing it to draw excessive amperage.

Check the cause

  1. Cycle the key switch or reboot the tractor power via the CommandCenter to see if the code clears.

  2. Disconnect the front-left outer roof light and turn the machine on. If the code changes to 521537.05 (Current Low / Open Circuit), the light assembly has an internal short.

  3. If the .06 code persists with the light unplugged, use a multimeter to check the power supply wire for a short to ground between the RLC module and the roof light connector.

  4. Inspect the harness plug at the roof line for melted plastic or water intrusion bridging the power and ground pins.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off tractor

Turn off the tractor and remove the key to ensure no power is flowing to the RLC module.

  2. Access roof

Safely access the front-left corner of the cab roof.

  3. Disconnect harness

Disconnect the wiring harness from the left outer worklight/warning light.

  4. Unbolt housing

If the diagnostic checks proved the light assembly is the point of failure (internal short), unbolt the faulty housing from the roof bracket.

  5. Install replacement

Install the replacement light assembly (ensure you are matching the tractor's specific Standard Halogen or Premium LED lighting package).

  6. Apply dielectric grease

Apply dielectric grease to the connector to prevent moisture intrusion and plug it into the new light.

  7. Test repair

Turn the key switch on, clear any stored RLC codes via the CommandCenter display, and test the lighting functions to verify the repair.
